TOYOTA NS4 Concept....WOW !!!

Do you know the toyota's latest development of hybrid vehicles? Those who doesn't know this is the chance to get to know it.

Toyota introduced new line of eco-friendly vehicles on January 2012, introducing a new plug-in hybrid concept called the NS4 and showing off the newest of its Prius family.

This model will reduced fuel consumption and increased connectivity more than the hybrid cars in the town & this is the Toyota’s next horizon of telemetric sophistication and fuel miserliness from the form of NS4 concept. The NS4 means "New Sedan 4" and it describes a car that’s long on swoop and short on specifics.

Toyota Motor Sales president explains the NS4 as a the company’s “take on the human connection to the car.” What this means is a user interface centered on a touch-screen system that operates essentially like a smart phone.

This will be launched on 2015, according to toyota and we can see how the world has improved in terms of technology with the hybrid cars that will easier for the man kind for better tomorrow as more importantly it saves the enviornmant of the planet,

Here are some of the photos taken displayed at the 2012 Detroit show.

Will the Government Reduce Import duties on Vehicles?

By Nilantha Bandara,
28th of Oct,

The government imposed taxes for the vehicle categories on 31st of March 2012,

According to that, import duties of a range of vehicles such as hybrid cars, diesel and petrol powered cars, diesel and petrol powered vans have been raised and Import duties of double cabs, three wheelers and motor bikes too have been jumped up.

Import duties of petrol cars of engine capacity ranges from below 1000 cc, between 1000 – 1600 cc and 1600 – 2000 cc too  have been raised to 200% from the earlier duties 120% , so it had risen up 80%, while Import duties of petrol cars which has an engine capacity ranging between 2000cc to 3000cc has been raised from the 154% to 250% of the total import value.

It sad to be more than 5000 brand new vehicles are in the yards due to lack of demand majority of them are brought back to sri lanka after the tax increases, the models like "Maruti" are among of them because of 200% import taxes,

The big question is that will the government is going to reduce import duties on vehicles near future so the consumers are benefited of that, these days rumors are spreading that they are going to reduce import tax levels for 30-40%. if this happens in the near future, then,
  • What will happen to consumers & car sale owners who has ordered cars already for existing import tax levels?
  • What will be the demand for reconditioned vehicles in the same categories?
  • What will be the prices in the car sales in the existing market?
These questions up to you and will have answers surely in the near future !!!

High demand on Hybrid cars in Sri Lanka

By Niantha Bandara,
On 25th of Oct.

The Demand is rising for hybrid cars in Sri Lanka, People in the country is fascinated to this hybrid concept mainly due to high fuel consumption of these cars. But the lacking part is of this concept is that the inadequate expert knowledge after a breakdown,

The most popular hybrid cars in Sri Lanka would be TOYOTA Prius and Honda hybrid ( Civic hybrid, Insight, etc.). I prefer Civic hybrid because it's same shape compared to Civic 1.8 CC petrol model and at the same time unique driving pleasure that HONDA has,

The increasing demand towards eco-friendly automobiles has seen global automobile manufacturers so they are in the process of innovating new models. This is operated with the combination of both a combustion engine and a battery-driven electric motor, which can be seen on the streets of Sri Lanka in ever increasing numbers.

"Sri Lanka’s demand for hybrid vehicles during the year 2011, has risen by 1200% compared to the year 2010, despite an upward revision in taxes" says the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
This result reflects that the Sri Lankan government tries to promote these eco-friendly hybrid cars by lowering the taxes incorporated to bring down vehicles from other countries such as from Japan.

The philosophy behind hybrid vehicles is that it combines the latest in technology to efficiently provide both the power of a standard engine while limiting harmful emissions including deadly sulphur dioxide and a variety of other greenhouse gases which continue to ravage our planet’s ozone layer.

The Demand will defiantly climb high for coming years in Sri Lanka as the eco-friendly concepts are the key to future in the globally and at the same time more benefits will be gained by the consumers by using hybrid cars.

Safety of Toyota Cars

By Nilantha Bandara
On 22nd of Oct

When you are driving a car on a road you must be 100% sure of the safety of the vehicle. The accidents is more and it's getting increased day by day that because of the complexity and  never ending ambitious needs & wants of the mankind.

TOYOTA has been pioneer of safety interns of car manufactures in the world, I personally believe they have most modern techniques when it comes to safety.Cars are installed safety concepts at the very beginning of the development stage itself,

The following video recorded out of my visit to TOYOTA manufacturing facility at Nagoya, Japan by the year 2010 February,This is clearly demonstrates the safety concepts adopted to the TOYOTA cars with the technological manner,

The following key aspects can be illustrated by watching above video,
  •   When two vehicles collision each other the energy is absorbed by the main body frame by 20% when even the car travels 50 to 55 kmph.
  • The WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening ) seats developed to safety of the driver and passengers when a collision.
  • To reduce the damage done to the outside people when a collision, the front body shape is designed in unique manner.
  • A full human body model is developed for impact analysis and tests are conducted by dummies to check the impact to ribcage and with the airbag.
  • Live testing facility is established in All Weather Collision facility with length of 280m and width of 190m.

We'll have greater safety concepts from TOYOTA  in future to minimize the risk of damaging to personals greatly by a collision so the driving in a TOYOTA will be a more pleasure experience without any fear.
